Ray, let me explain then thinking behind the Ny Yankees deal... the Yankees are the baseball equivalent of Man Utd, they aer supportted from east coast to west... Soccer is the fastest growing sport in the USA and people DO know who Man Utd are... I have a very good friend from the States who kbnows all about Man Utd and there are more of them... Although Soccer cannot compete with American Footie or Basketball, in 20 years from now it will be far higher profile than it is today... secondly, sports wear is about fashion in the USA... not asbout the team you support. Over here you would never get a Man Utd fan wearing a Liverpool hat, but in the stataes you would get that, people will wear the stuff because of its curiosity value, it's different and most of all it is ENGLISH... this is another example of shrewd business decision-making by Edwards/Kenyon... the market will be growing and they will be theere to expliot it and m,ake sure that yet again Man Utd will be the best supported soccer team on the continent!
