Personally I think the best team I have ever seen play football was the Brazil team of 1970. I know there can be no comparison between club and international, but I just felt it had to be said.
But if you want to compare greatest ever teams (not clubs) you've got to include the Manchester Utd of the 50's, and what about the Royal Engineers of the 1890's... I mean they were the only team to win the League 3 years running until Liverpool did it in 83, 84, 85. Then there is both the Bayern Munich and the Leeds teams of the 70's. Clough's Forest deserve a mention...possibly his League winning Derby team too. If you're just going to count trophies, it will be Liverpool for a while yet, but there is far more to take into account than that... and because of improvements (the term is used looseley) to the game you cannot compare cross-generations.
All that matters now is that...
