As usual I disagree with some of your comments.
Well most actually.
the first thing that struck me about last night was that I saw 11 people on the pitch who seemed to WANT to be playing for England... this is something we haven't seen for a while. I agree Heskey was stranded up front, but still scared the shit out of the Azurri whenh he got the ball.
I thought Beck's penalty was a penalty.
Considering that a few months ago this team were 20 seconds away from being Euro champs and we were being humiliated to hell I thought the guys put up a good fight.
Now erickson has to build on this and not go back to the sluggish has-beens we keep seeing play for England... well done England, best game in a long while.
