Sorry John...I have to disagree here, with this last comment, not the overall sentiment...
Man Utd put their business plan together to create their monopoly sitaution in 1989/1990. The consequential marketing abuse was a part of that plan but they have shamelessly expoloited every avenuethey can to propel United into the richest club in the world... Possibly not the way you think a footie club should operate, but as businessmen...shrewd moving!
