I've jus picked up the latest statement from the FA about the future of Wembley, and how they are going to convince the City Bankers to finance the place after all (after the bankers have all turned it down flat). Sorry, but dumping Ken Bates, scrapping the Hotel and office complex and thinking again about maybe having a running track aint go to do the trick. When are these bozos going to realise THEY ARE BUILDING IT IN THE WRONG PLACE!
North London (and Wembley in particular) is awful to get to. (and I only live 20 miles away!) Just as awful to get away from after the game. The National Stadium should be going somewhere around the NEC area in Birmingham. There is acres of space(especially car parks), Motorways in from all directions, a Main Line railway station on the site and even an Interantional Airport within walking distance. It also means less of a trek for fans in parts of the country other than London. I expect it has no hope 'cos it is too far from Lancaster Gate! (and stuff the fans!)
No, I am not a Brummie, just an ordinary football supporter who thinks we ALL should be able to get to our National Stadium easily.
