: Was this ever a myth?
: I remember people saying that 'years ago we used to have a laugh with rival fans' etc.
: I remember in the 70-80's football being in a right state - fighting everywhere. Dickheads all over the place.
: Now, when you go to the match, depending on the away fans (I'm just a homer) you can either have a great laugh (Newcastle, Charlton, Watford etc.) or be (sometimes) in fear of your life (Man U, Hull, Spurs, West Ham).
: So, what's going on nowadays? Has anyone had any good (or bad) experiences lately?
: Are we all more civillised or what? I personally have shaken the hands of several nervous looking Watford fans after they beat us 1-0 at the first game of last season - they were in the Everton Valley pub and seemed suprised when about 30 Liverpool fans turned up, but there was no trouble, some friendly banter and everyone was happy.
: This wasn't the case (to my suprise) when Man city came up at the last game, they usually have a reputation of being pretty gentlemanly, but some of the songs being sung by them before, during and after the game were very anti-Liverpool and I was suprised no-one took issue.
: Who are the good the bad and the ugly in your experience?
: Can you class a fan by his club..?
: Answers on a postcard to..
in fear for your life in hull? surely not
