Although I support Liverpool, I have a soft spot for most lower league and non-league sides. I worked in Cambridge for a while and watched the dizzying delights of Cambridge United (I'm not kidding they were great to watch) and during the course of my while-away-Saturdays over the years I have visited such luminaries as Southport, Marine, Runorn, Stockport County, Bootle United, Everton(!), Tranmere Rovers, Wigan and Preston.

I also think it is crucial to maintain the status of our domestic cups. It's OK Manchester United and Arsenal trying to lose the Worthington cup on purpose, but after seeing the extra revenue generated from this cup for some of the smaller clubs, a half-decent run might keep them going for another year. It's bad enough that Man U can't even be arsed playing even the FA cup..

I personally think that the money generated by the 'Premier' league is a disgrace - this money should be at least slightly integrated into lower and non-league clubs.

After all, to Liverpool 50,000 is not much money - wouldn't even buy a reserve (and they don't need it with the excellent acadedmy) but to a struggling third division team 50,000 might be enough to do many things.

Anyway, hope the club keeps together and keeps on going!

Regards,

Andy Scott

: All the best to Maidstone. It's nice to see a message from a non-premiership club fan. As a Wolves fan I know how near we came to extinction in the eighties (home league gates of 3000 and less during 85 and 86). Football wasn't trendy then. It is now. It would be nice to think that some of the obscene amount of revenue raised from Sky could be put towards Maidstone and their ilk rather than towards a Ferrari for another overpaid foreign player.
: : Remember us, dumped in our backside by the football league, our chairman , our county FA and our locao councils. We are coming back slowly but surely, 2 levles off the Southern League, the support is still there though. Think Aldershot and Newport County but 10 times worse. We are still without a ground. Please leave a message of support at our fanzine :-
