To be fair, in the few times I've been on the Kop, I've spent about 70% of the match standing anyway.
If these people could keep the seats, but allow people to stand in certain areas (ie not restricting kiddies views etc.) then that would be a start - allocated numbers of people in an area and being able to stand would definately help the atmosphere - look at us v Chelsea - it was pretty loud where I was - and I went home with a headache!
It just some grounds do appear to have draconian seating lesilation, but Anfield doesn't - FOR NOW! But we might end up being a plc, which would mean that the fans would no longer be classed as important as they are now.
I can't see why people at OT can't stand (and sing) if they want to - I take Dermot's comments on board with that it's hard to generate an atmosphere with draconian methods like this in effect - If I was warned everytime I stood up, I would have been banned by now!!
Another thought is; if the standing areas were right at the front of the ground (with enough clearance space so the seated people behind could still see) then how on earth could that possibly be dangerous to anyone?
: We need to get them to substantiate the comment that stabnding isn't safe with something...they can't use Hillsboro as we know that was never due to standing... only poor policing leading to overcrowding... so they need some evidence to back their point while we have the evidence of the lower divisions, Germany, rock concerts etc. etc. etc.
